Welcome to Ogopogo Resort on Mountain Lake!

Ogopogo is situated in the beautiful Haliburton Highlands on picturesque Mountain Lake only 2 to 2-1/2 hours from Toronto. It is at the heart of a four-season outdoor playground and artist community with just about everything an enthusiast is looking for. As outdoor enthusiasts and art appreciators, ourselves it is our philosophy to offer our guests the opportunity to enjoy everything the Highlands has to offer. We do this through the packages we offer, created with many other service providers in the region, through our assistance with bookings when you contact us and our efforts to make your stay memorable once you are here.

The Resort

The resort is situated on crystal clear Mountain Lake minutes north of Minden in the Haliburton Highlands. Ogopogo is a four-season cottage resort with full amenities, on-site outdoor activities, and many nearby attractions. Ogopogo's cottages are luxurious and well appointed. Our grounds are lovely at any time of year with many flower gardens, winding pathways, shade trees and lawn.

Ogopogo's Uniqueness

There are some features that make Ogopogo unique year round. There is a full range of summer-based activities such as our sand beach, complimentary canoes, kayaks and paddleboats, shuffleboard, horseshoes, heated pool and children's play area. In the winter, skating and ice fishing are popular on the lake. The Twin Lakes Cross Country Ski trails are directly accessible and dogsledding and tobogganing are very accessible in the area. Snowmobile trails are at your doorstep. Ogopogo has five golf courses within 15 minutes driving time and downhill skiing is 20 minutes away

Mountain Lake is special because it joins with Horseshoe Lake and the Minden White Water Reserve. There are many wonderful places to hike. During the Fall and Spring seasons, Ogopogo is also a 'get away retreat' for those wanting the quiet ambiance and comforts to relax and unwind.

Ogopogo is a special place for a romantic getaway. After a day outdoors, pamper yourself with a relaxation massage in your cottage followed by a gourmet dinner delivered to your door. We have packages for both dinner and Spa service and the menus are listed on the website.

Our Cottages

Ogopogo's cottages are architecturally designed, new or completely rebuilt in the past seven years. Cottages have covered porches overlooking the lake, or decks in the trees, solid pine floors, gas fireplaces, full kitchen facilities, colour TV/VCRs or DVDs, coordinated décor and furnishings, electrically heated, and built to R-2000 standards. Our drinking water is supplied from an artesian well and is treated to meet the requirements of the new Ontario 2006 Drinking Water Standards. A number of our cottages have two person Jacuzzi baths in the Master bedroom. Accommodations are meticulous. Just bring your food, clothing and beach towels. Everything else is provided.

Ogopogo Resort delivers both the quality and value that will make your vacation getaway special. We welcome pre-inspections and we invite you to compare Ogopogo with other properties before you reserve.

The Lake

Mountain Lake is a designated Trout lake. It is pristine! You can look over the side of the boat and see down 20 feet or more. The resort has direct water access to the Minden Wild Water Preserve, world renowned as Canada's premier location for kayak racing events. Ogopogo shores are gently sloping and sandy while the view across the lake is mountainous and forest. Mountain Lake affords excellent fishing both summer and winter. Mountain Lake is not heavily developed because of its rugged east shore and is considered by locals to be the "prime" lake and one of the most picturesque in the Haliburton region.
